The Wolf Within:

A Yellowstone Self-Discovery Retreat

Date: April 18-23, 2027

Location: Arrive/Depart from Bozeman, MT

ITINERARY

Day 0

Arrival

Late Afternoon/Evening: Arrive at the Grantree Inn, Bozeman, MT

Transportation from the Bozeman, MT airport is available through the Grantree Inn. Contact the hotel directly to arrange a shuttle for pick-up. Check-in begins at 3:00 PM.

5:00 PM: Dinner on your own

No dinner will be provided this night. There are several restaurant choices available within walking distance of the hotel as well as a cafe in the hotel.

Day 1

Welcome

8:00 AM: Breakfast

A catered breakfast will be provided at the Grantree Inn. 

9:00 AM: Welcome and Orientation

Yellowstone guides and transformation coach, Kris Tolman, will share guidelines on how to have a safe and mindful experience while in Yellowstone National Park (YNP).  We will also spend a few minutes getting to know each other and begin building our WISE Pack.

10:00 AM: Travel to Gardiner, MT

Our Yellowstone guides will provide transportation to our next lodging spot in Gardiner, MT. Along the way, we will make a stop along the Yellowstone River and learn about Yellowstone ecology.

12:00 PM: Check-In at the Ridgeline Hotel and Lunch

Get settled in your room and have lunch. Lunch will be provided.

2:00 PM: Afternoon Program and Wildlife Viewing in YNP

During this session we will discuss the reintroduction of the gray wolf into YNP.

6:00 PM: Dinner and Discussion

Healing Yellowstone - Healing Ourself

During this discussion, we will reflect on what we learned throughout the day. Then we will discuss

ways that we can apply the wisdom of nature to heal ourself and individual coaching within the group will be offered as time permits. 

8:00 PM: Snack & Socializing

This is an optional opportunity to get acquainted with the members of the WISE Pack. We recommended not staying up too late because we have an early start the next morning.

Day 2

Wolf Wisdom

6:00 AM: Depart for YNP

Life in the wild gets started early. Today we will be departing for YNP early and eating a grab and go breakfast in the park. The morning will be spent viewing wildlife in the park, hopefully some wolves! We may do some moderate hiking.

12:00 PM: Lunch & Learn

Lunch will be a boxed lunch out in the park. Following lunch, our Walking Shadow Ecology guides will teach us about wolf behavior, including the dynamics of a pack. This session is to learn from the wisdom of wolves and the importance of community.

3:00 PM: Travel Back to Hotel/Integration & Rest Break

This is time for you to rest and reflect. You can use the time however feels good to you. It is an opportunity to tune into your body and listen to your inner-knowing for guidance.

5:00 PM: Dinner 

Dinner will be provided for you.

6:30 PM: Campfire & Conversation

Following dinner, we will meet around the warmth of a campfire ring to process and debrief the day's events. We will reflect  on wolf behavior, the wisdom we gleaned, and how to apply it in our own lives. Coaching will be offered within the group circle.

8:00 PM: Snack & Socializing

Participation is optional.

Day 3

Tracking Your Purpose

6:00 AM: Depart for YNP

Today we will be focusing on animal tracking basics. We will be departing for YNP early and eating a grab and go breakfast in the park. The morning will be spent learning the fundamentals of identifying and interpreting animal tracks. We will do some moderate hiking and hopefully find some tracks to try out our new knowledge.

11:00 PM: Lunch in Cooke City, MT

Lunch will be in Cooke City, MT.

3:00 PM: Animal Tracking Museum

This afternoon we will learn more details about the art of animal tracking.

4:00 PM: Integration & Rest Break

This is your time. Do what feels good to you. Take a nap, journal, take a walk. It's up to you! 

5:00 PM: Dinner

Dinner will be provided for you.

6:30 PM: Campfire & Conversation

Tonight's conversation will focus on our takeaways from our animal tracking and wildlife observations. We will discuss how animal tracking is the perfect metaphor for understanding how to track purpose and meaning in our own lives.

8:00 PM: Snack & Socializing

Participation is optional.

Day 4

Finding Inner Peace

6:00 AM: Depart for YNP

This morning we will be departing for YNP early and eating a grab and go breakfast in the park. The morning will be spent observing wildlife and their behaviors in their native habitat. Today we will be focusing on recognizing our inner-knowing, the place of our greatest inner-peace. That will be contrasted with the messages of the exterior world.

12:00 PM: Lunch

Boxed lunches will be provided to you.

2:00 PM: Visit to a Regenerative Ranching Neighbor

This afternoon we will visit a local who is learning to live with wolves back in their native habitat. We will explore the challenges of living with an apex predator and the impacts to the local economy. Today's presentation will lead up to a later discussion about how our inner-knowing becomes muffled by the culture in which we live. 

4:00 PM: Integration & Rest Break

This is your time. Do what feels good to you. Take a nap, journal, take a walk. It's up to you! 

5:00 PM: Dinner

Tonight's dinner will be a celebratory dinner! 

 

6:30 PM: Campfire & Closing Conversation 

Tonight's conversation will discuss our socialized self versus our true self and how to give both  a voice within our lives. 
 

8:00 PM:  Snack & Socializing

Participation is optional.

Day 5

Embodied Living

7:00 AM: Closing Session

This morning's discussion will bring all of our learning throughout the week together. We will discuss how to live what we learned when we return to the real world so that we can embody our newly discovered wisdom as our most WISE self.

8:00 AM: Breakfast

Breakfast will be provided at the Ridgeline Hotel.

9:00 AM: Checkout and Photos

Hugs, photos, and swapping contact information will help you stay in touch with your new WISE Pack.

10:00 AM: Transportation to the airport

Your Walking Shadow Ecology guides will provide transportation back to the Bozeman, MT airport.

* This program will be primarily based within and around the northern range of Yellowstone. Due to weather conditions, the roads to iconic locations such as Old Faithful and Canyon will be closed and will not be visited.
